General workshop & Garage Assistant

York Pullman Bus Company Ltd is seeking a General Commercial Vehicle Garage and Workshop Assistant, based in York.

The role is full time (minimum) 40 regular hours per week [no shifts] working Monday to Friday with possibility of occasional Saturday hours.

Based in our modern, well equipped workshops in York, the successful applicant will receive full training as appropriate to allow them to assist with general garage duties and tasks including the steam cleaning of vehicles plus general housekeeping duties around the garage site.

Duties will include steam cleaning of vehicles, assisting engineering staff as required with their duties, light engineering tasks if suitable and any other duties as directed to help with the general operation of the vehicle workshops.

• Practical ability to undertake routine tasks efficiently, often without supervision
• Team player – willingness to work alongside a successful team
• Flexible – able to adapt to a variety of tasks necessary in the day to day operations of a busy workshop environment
• Good attention to detail – able to work to the very highest standards
• Ability to work consistently and safely to a high standard of Health & Safety

Preferred but not essential requirements;

• A car driving licence an advantage
• Experience with commercial vehicle and/or a previous vehicle workshop environments an advantage
