Pupils who pay for Home to School Transport

 

Conditions of Sale – Concessionary School Travel Passes

York Pullman offers concessionary seats to pupils who are not entitled to free home to school transport.

Concessionary travel passes are sold directly by York Pullman on an annual basis as part of the Council spare seat scheme. Seats may be purchased at any point during the academic year, subject to availability, with the cost adjusted accordingly for the remaining period of travel.

Payment for the pass consists of an initial payment made at the time of booking, followed by monthly direct debit payments from October through to April where applicable. These payments are managed by our third party provider Go Cardless

Passes are issued as a QR code to the applicant’s email address and can be distributed to the student via mobile phone or these can be printed direct from the issued email.

Passes are fully refundable if cancelled before 11 September 2026. After this date, the purchase of the pass is considered final and refunds or cancellations will not be permitted for the remainder of the academic year. Any approved refund may be subject to an administration or transaction fee, and the associated travel pass will be cancelled immediately.

To request a cancellation prior to the refund deadline, parents or guardians must contact schools@yorkpullmanbus.co.uk by email. Until cancellation has been confirmed and the pupil’s pass has been deactivated, York Pullman reserves the right to continue collecting payments for the allocated seat.

All travel passes are issued subject to acceptable behaviour and continued payment being maintained. Travel concessions may be withdrawn in cases of inappropriate behaviour or non-payment.

Where a payment is missed, an administration fee may be applied. Three attempts will be made to collect the outstanding payment before the travel pass is cancelled without further notice.

If a pass has been cancelled or withdrawn, and a pupil attempts to travel using an invalid or deactivated QR code/pass, travel will be refused.

 

North Yorkshire Concessionary Passes

For pupils within the North Yorkshire Council catchment area, the sale and issue of concessionary passes are managed directly by the Council.

 

Pupils Eligable for Home to School Transport

 

City of York Council Catchment Area

Eligibility for free home to school transport is determined by City of York Council in accordance with its Home to School Transport Policy. Any queries relating to eligibility should be directed to the Council in the first instance. Further information is available on the Council’s website.

York Pullman is responsible for allocating pupils to vehicles and issuing travel passes.

We aim to distribute new passes to pupils via email ordinarily in May.

 

North Yorkshire Council Catchment Area

Eligibility for free home to school transport within the North Yorkshire Council catchment area is determined by the Council in accordance with its transport policy.

The Council is also responsible for allocating transport spaces and issuing travel passes. Please refer to the Council’s website for further information or contact them directly regarding any queries.

Privacy and Information Notice

By completing an application form, you consent to York Pullman processing personal information for the purpose of administering and issuing a school travel pass.

Personal information will not be shared with third parties or used for any unrelated purpose. Information will be retained securely for accounting, auditing and operational purposes only.

Allergens

York Pullman cannot guarantee that vehicles used on school transport services are free from allergens.

As many school transport services are also open to fare-paying members of the public, we are unable to control whether allergens, including but not limited to nuts, wheat or other substances, may be brought onto vehicles by passengers.
