WELCOME TO
YORK PULLMAN BUS COMPANY

York Pullman is a name synonymous with travel in York. The company was first established in 1926 when garage owner Norman Pearce started a service between York and Stamford Bridge.

The company grew from its base in Piccadilly before moving to Bootham Tower in 1951. By the mid -1970s York Pullman carried about a million passengers every year, offering not only service buses but day excursions and overnight stays. Fortunes changed though in the early 1990s and the name and fleet disappeared into the annals of history.

After a break of more than a decade, the York Pullman brand has been resurrected and is once again offering residents and visitors to the city a real service of distinction.

We have a comprehensive day excursion programme that not only sees us travelling directly to Castle Howard three times a week, but also to those areas of outstanding beauty that lie just on our doorstep and yet are so difficult to reach by public transport.

These include Fountains Abbey, the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham, Beningbrough Hall, the Lake District and various destinations throughout the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors.

We also offer half day shopping trips mid-week to places including Thirsk, Skipton, Sheffield Meadowhall, the Trafford Centre and Hornsea Freeport. We will also be attending many of the regions agricultural shows including those in Driffield, Thornton le Dale, Ryedale and Rosedale.

For those wishing to stay in sight of York Minster, there is also our new Open Top City Tours available. These will be running every weekend until June 12th from which point they will be running daily until the end of October.

Each tour has a real guide on board and will last approximately 45 minutes. Buses operate on a 20 minute frequency from Exhibition Square and can be used as a hop on - hop off service throughout the day.

Recent acquisitions to the Pullman fleet include two new Routemaster buses, one open deck and one closed deck for those periods of prolonged 'inclement' weather. All are painted in the traditional gold and burgundy livery of York Pullman and carry the historic insignia. Those planning a special event may also be pleased to know that all of our buses and coaches are available for private hire.
